Tryout Fee 

The cost for the Tryout is $35 and is non-refundable.  

Tryout Process 

Tryouts are comprised of 2 parts: 

1. Skills Assessment 

   a. All athletes are statistically and subjectively evaluated on their individual skills such as hitting, setting, passing, digging and blocking skills.  

2. Live Play 

   a. All athletes will have multiple opportunities to play in various situations like 3 vs 3, 4 vs 4, 6 vs 6 drills.   

At the end of the tryout, the process for announcing teams will be explained to all participants.  Not everyone is guaranteed a spot. Participants accept their spot by signing the player contract and paying the $550 initial payment. If you pay the initial payment within 24 hours of the tryout date, the initial payment will be discounted to only $500. The contract and payment are all online. Player contracts will be emailed to the parent's e-mail address that you provided when registering for tryouts. 

No experience is required to tryout for Paradox. We have a range of playing experience levels on all of our teams.  Teams will be formed based on athlete numbers and skill level on each player within their age division.

Teams 

Teams are generally composed of 10-12 athletes grouped in the same age division. Depending on ability, athletes may be selected to play in older age divisions. Our teams practice twice a week. Each practice is 2-3 hours in duration. Practice times could be anytime between 9am-9pm on Saturdays and from 5:30pm-10:00pm Mondays through Thursdays. Our teams compete in local events, tournaments across Texas, and also national volleyball tournaments against other boys' volleyball clubs.  

The Season 

Practices 

Practices will start the first week of October.  Teams will practice either on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at Order on the Court throughout the season. After November the teams practice schedule could change, including SA Magic Volleyball’s gym as a secondary practice facility.

Competitions 

Teams mostly play in 2 day tournaments which start in December and end early July. Every team will have a very extensive travel schedule with multiple in state and out of state tournaments. Tournaments will typically start at 12-noon on a Saturday, play 3 to 5 matches verses different teams over a 6 to 8 hour period. Then come back on Sunday 8am and play 2 or more matches. Tournament schedules are usually developed after the teams are formed as most tournaments do not announce their dates until December. Exact playing schedules (of each tournament) are posted online usually by the Wednesday before.  

End of Season 

All teams are scheduled to play until July ending their season at the USA Volleyball Boys Jr National Championships or AAU Boys National Championships. See tournament schedule for length of season for each team.
